Interplast recently presented our 30 Year Fiji Impact Study at a surgical conference in Fiji. Representatives from 16 countries including all of the Pacific countries in which we work attended The Pacific Island Surgical Association (PISA) Conference.
In addition to working extensively across the Asia Pacific providing surgery to those who would not otherwise be able to access it, and training and mentoring to local medical staff, Interplast works in partnership with Australian agencies to achieve life-changing outcomes for individuals.
Interplast Ambassador, Turia Pitt, and her Great Wall of China team have arrived back from their fundraising adventure. The team raised over $170,000 for Interplast. An amazing effort that will rebuild countless lives across the Asia Pacific region.
It seems unbelievable, but for many people living in developing countries this is the reality. The World Health Organisation reports that over 2 billion people across the globe have no access to basic surgical care.
As the end of the financial year approaches we need your support. Your donations make it possible for Interplast to increase people’s access to high quality surgical, medical and allied health services.
60 Minutes Australia aired a story on Interplast ambassador Turia Pitt on Sunday 1 June. The story featured Turia and Michael’s trip to Vientiane, Laos, to visit a running Interplast program.
Interplast is pleased to offer you the opportunity to join Turia Pitt on a once in a lifetime adventure in Peru.
In May, Interplast proudly supported five plastic surgeons from Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Vietnam to attend the 2014 Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) Annual Scientific Congress (ASC) in Singapore.
2013 was an exciting year for Interplast, as many of you will know we celebrated our 30th anniversary. One of the key achievements for the year was the undertaking and completion of Interplast’s first longitudinal impact evaluation study, looking at 30 years of Interplast activities in Fiji.
Rotary’s Climb for a Smile event was held in October 2013. Participating teams climbed 50 floors to the finish line on the roof of the newly renovated 108 George Terrace in Perth.
Interplast is excited to embark on a new funding partnership with the Filminera Resources Corporation (Filminera). This partnership will see three annual general plastic and reconstructive surgical programs being undertaken in partnership with the Masbate Provincial Hospital, Philippines.
Rotary International President Elect (RIPE), Gary Huang and his wife, Corinna, visited the Interplast office recently to learn about our organisation.
