As part of Interplast’s Behind the Mask series we seek to share the dedicated experiences of our volunteers and partners in over 25 countries. Dr Ian Hogarth, Anaesthetist and Interplast volunteer, shares his experience working with our local partners in Fiji.

“The relationship we have with our Interplast partners is very much about looking after the locals. Be that in a manner of service provision or teaching – we aim to do it all. It’s about providing care and about passing on the ability to others to provide care of similar or better quality than we can.

As an anaesthetist I try to teach whoever I can, whatever I can. It’s about being able to identify their needs and their wants, and their ability to take on board and to provide those services.”
